Description
Castle Combe lies in a valley in Wiltshire not far from my home, and is considered one of the loveliest villages in the country. It is one of the most visited and frequently finds favour as a backdrop for period television and cinema dramas. Dr Doolittle etc.
Its adjacent wooded hill was fortified by Britons, Saxons and Normans and like most other places in the Cotswolds, Castle Combe's prosperity was based on sheep and wool. The village was important enough at one time to be granted the privilege of holding a fair where wool and sheep were traded.
David and I met up today and we had a lovely day and had some lovely sunshine, and the river was in full flow, this shot is looking down the old weavers cottages down from the Market place..

It certainly is a lovely village. And I'm glad they've been able to keep it so clean. That's not always possible with places that attract visitors. Morning light and a ride before lunch or Evening light and a ride before settling in? Either way it's so serene.
wonderful place!
