Description
Yet another bird of the Yucatan hot off my drawing pad, the Royal Flycatcher. The Royal Flycatcher has an erect fan-shaped crest, (red in the male and yellow-orange in the female). The crest fully raised is very rarely seen-- generally the birds have to be provoked.
I can't help but wonder if the Royal flycatcher inspired the headdresses of the Aztecs and Mayans
