Description
I have always wondered about some old volcano cones seen from the road way from Kau desert to Hawaii National Park area. Our deserts are lava rocks and a little black sand. I thought these volcano cones might be accessible thru the Mauna Iki trail and took a chance. On this trip, I was accompanied by Lady Carrie and fellow worker Myron. Myron has hiked many times with me on the hot lava fields before. No active lava flow here in the Kau desert but my curiosity must be satisfied about these cones. So here we go again. Aloha and thank you for viewing.
PS.... If anyone is wondering about Brave Terry, he is ok. Hopefully he will be hiking with us again after the Holiday Season

Greetings my friend, This different kind of close-up of the larva is very interesting. I se there is a walking stick, yours by any chance? Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for sharing. egmont

Excellent capture! Beautiful and interesting view!!!
Egmond...yes, it is my walking stick or trepod.
the walking stick gives it the size we understand. wonderful looking place.
the formation of the lava is awesome Errol.easy to see why you are drawn to the fields
Amazing to see, looks like a really harsh land, not unlike our desert. It has its own beauty, excellent picture. Todd
You bring these places alive, Errol, and I love seeing it!! I like the fact your walking stick is leaning against that rock, gives it perspective and a very personal touch!
The walking stick does give some scale to the scene and adds a nice personal touch. This has many areas of interest and lots going on. The larger view works for me~ =)
Fascinating! the rock formations are really amazing.
It's amazing how it creates natural sculptures!! Excellent shot Errol! Aloha...
Oh, another hike. I'm ready, let's get going. This looks like a great start, Errol.
Man...that's a cool lava formation. Awesome!
If it weren't for the greenery ...I'd say it was from outer space L an ancient civilization .... the walking stick does give an idea the size of these formations ..... great capture, sharky!
Beautiful capture the walking stick adds to the composition:):):):)
I feel like I have walked straight into an episode of Star Trek. Great photo, especially with the walking stick there.
Love those volcanic rippled textures and thanks on the update on Terry. lol like a walking/touring stick in a picture.
