Description
Nikon 7900 pocket camera - hand held image.
This is not the image I intended to post tonight but due to the lack of response to my last posting, I decided to save the last Blister Beetle image (which was my intended posting) for later this winter, lol.
I think it is fair to say (and obvious to those who view my images regularly), that I am fond of bugs, but some are harder to like than others. Roaches are among the later, lol. We have two common species of them where I live- little brown "German" Cockroaches and big black "Water Bug" Roaches. I do not catch and release either species. I kill all I see in the house and attempt to kill all I don't see, lol.
However, all Roaches are not equal. Todays posting is an example of that. It is a Pale Bordered Field Cockroach. It is very colorful and it prefers to live outside. Both attributes help me overcome my innate dislike of the species in general. It is only found in Oklahoma, Texas, Northern Mexico, and one isolated area in Alabama.

We agree on extermination of 'house' roache's then Lee, this like you say is a different matter. He looks quite neat actually, yet another new one for me. I like your comment about some being harder to like than others. Is this not true of the human race I ask myself? Another image with fine detail, I notice on this one, the spikes on the legs like most spiders. Now with spiders I thought it was to do with feeling vibrations on their webs when dinner arrived. After seeing this roache with them I'm begining to wonder if I was right. Have you any idea's on this? or is it that I have been missing then on other insects? Excellent capture. Bravo!!!!!

And here I thought I should be out stomping and smashing all roaches. They make me quiver with revulsion... but this little guy... and I peek slowly, isn't too bad. He's kind of interesting looking. He'd better not come in the house though. :os Excellent capture. Bunny
