Description
Having returned from hearing a performance by Tibetan Monks' music and chant, I found myself looking at this photo again.
It was done some time ago, but somehow I can't seem to leave it alone. It's my attempt at reminding myself that viewpoint and perspective can be misleading. Balance is about stability, as the world keeps moving around us in an always-changing path round the center of our galaxy. What seems right now, can be different as we look beyond our first impressions.
The rock-stacks look improbable, but still, it all seems reasonable, until you notice the trees in the back.
These rocks are in fact, standing on their own, no tricks, no glue, wires, or help from Photoshop. The only alterations were some heightened contrast on the main stones, the border, and resizing to make it small enough for Renderosity. Gravity alone is holding them up, and they're just fine regardless of what point of view I may have imposed upon myself at that moment.
I like to look at this, and remind myself to stay a bit humbler about my own opinions. Like my point of view, they will change with time. I hope that with time I grow wiser, and perhaps a bit more humble in the understanding of my own limitations.
Thank you all so much for looking, your comments and encouragement. As always criticism, suggestions, and advice are as welcome as praise. May you all have an excellent weekend.

Awesome!!! They look like they are about to fall any moment!!! Fantastic job!!! And great POV!!! The trees are really making this looks strange!!!
The only limits we have are they ones we give ourself. Like the image, its meditative, Im trying to put togheter a small zen garden at home, and this would be a perfect thing to have their. well maby not the photo, but what u portrayed. /thanks for the inspiration.. /Benny
Seems like the music has influenced you to reflect on many things... You are so lucky to have been able to go to the performance. Music has long had the power to touch us hasn't it~ I like the DOF in this, the blurred background certainly brings the rocks into prominence. I love the different colors in your balancing rocks... at this point they are almost like characters in a performing troupe~ =)
WOW...I love Tibetan chants as well...I have recordings of the Gyoto Monks (back in Chicago) and I always listened to the entire albums...I could never allow myself to stop listening after just one or two chants...the whole cycle had to play. Anyway, onto the photograph. It's a brilliantly rich piece of work that will probably continue to recontextualize itself as you look at it in the future. It's gorgeously captured, and I like the very vague, and wholly subjective impression of an Easter-Island monolith-type-face in what may be one rock or two--with one just in front of the other. At any rate, I see a vague hint of a stone face, and that just adds to the kinds of things that work in this image, and the things that work in all aspects of visual art. The colors are great, and because of you, I think I'm catching the rock balancing bug!
Your writeup brings surprize, knowledge and then enlightenment, something this creative and amazing image evokes also!!!

I realy like a tilted angle shot. Amazing what holds the stones stable.
outstanding rock stacking and pov.the blue stones almost look like turquoise
A most interesting and unusual shot!! Very fascinating and well done.
very good thinking and I do see the trees as these rocks is balance by counder weight with each other so they can stand like this. cool shot

nods....Clarity of thought. The challenge, always, is maintenance of it, isn't it? My thanks for sharing these insights. And, as always, for sharing the images. Yes, a glorious sort of incongruence here, isn't there. Fitting :) Deepest Namaste, my friend :)
