Description
Something different and strange. When walking around the local downtown parks, one Saturday afternoon, I heard distant rock music. Suddenly, there it was, a huge mechanized beast, just about to start walking. They had cleared a good part of downtown streets to allow this to happen, and you can see the crowds it drew. The massive contraption, sponsored by the Jules Verne Impact band, ended up at Trafalgar Square, where the Mayor of London spoke, and she and the Minister of Culture reminded the assembled crowds that this was an example of how London would be able to easily manage all types of Olympic events in this area. London had been just chosen as the 2012 Olympic site over Paris. BTW. this is a French band.

I saw a video of that on Livevideo or youtube and it is massive. Splendid photo. See if you can find the video it is amazing to see it move.
WOW! Splendid photos...an amazing sight for sure. I love the way in which you captured so many of the details and the scale here! Wonderful work!
Wow - that's quite a sight! Imagine what it must have been like to be working in one of those upper-story windows, look up from your desk, and see an elephant wandering by! Amazing.
Thanks for the comments, and oscilis, I saw it move. I was walking next to it and followed it all the way to Trafalgar Sq. The next day it wandered around again, to meet up at the arena for the Horse Guards and they ended the show with a bang there. It was a truly amazing sight. I think I'll post a couple more images that show some of the action.
I also seen this on the Tube, the guy with the shades in the hat i think i know who this is Henriflix
