She lives in this small, delapidated house...with her Mam and Granny. They have a dozen or so chickens, mostly for the eggs, and a goat for milk and cheese. Out behind the house is a small vegetable garden. Granny is very old and spends most of her time lost in reveries about the long gone past. Mam looks after Granny and the critters, tends the garden, and fixes the meals. Mim usually leaves for the inn before daylight and it is often dark by the time she comes home--if she does come home. Although her beauty is fading, many men still find her attractive. Sometimes, one will ask her to spend the night with him. If she likes him and is not too exhausted by the day's work, she probably will. Besides, it helps augement Mim's meager income and she does have a family to support. She never brings them home, though. It is her retreat, her little bit of heaven in an otherwise rather harsh world. Her only regret is that she gets to spend so little of her day there. Mam used to work at the Wayside Inn and when she got pregnant with Mim by the owner, Herrick, he gave her the property and buildings, rather than marry her. While Mam worked at the inn, Granny took care of the young Mim. Someday, this place will belong to Mim as well as the inn. __________________________________________ This started out to be an "easy" picture that ended up fighting me every pixel of the way.
