Description
The day I took all the tiger shots, the conditions were awful... either deep, dark shade or bright, harsh sunlight. Just one or two steps out of the shade into bright sun and the light meter would go off the charts. Two more steps and shade again! It was impossible to change settings fast enough.
The very large enclosures are forested and have lots of undergrowth. Each of the three tigers had its own enclosure, as tigers are solitary animals and do not interact with each other very much except for mating. It was hard to get a clear shot of the face, as the cats were nearly always moving and many good facial expressions were ruined by plant growth between the cat and the camera. But it was a joy to see them in a more natural environment. Even though this tiger's face is partially obscured, I thought the elements in this scene complimented this beautiful female, I liked the light, and those tiny white flowers hooked me!
Just after I took this shot, the tiger suddenly leapt up, and in a large graceful arc through the air, landed at least 10 feet away from where she started and ran to the other side of the enclosure. All this in just a split second, and through it all, through the bushes, the dry leaves, branches, and twigs... she made not a single sound!! And we were close enough to have heard any noise! It was an awesome display of power and the stealth abilities that these beautiful creatures have!
Thank you very kindly for your views and comments on this series. One more shot, and then on to something else.

I love your Tiger photo's, the markings are so clear and beautiful, and just look at those eyes. WOW! Incredible work.

fantastic capture..he is so wonderful...excellent work...
Excellent beauty well done!!!!!!
This is a fantastic capture...well seen and presented. I love the write up that you gave as it adds to an already great work. I don't see the tiger's face as being obscured in ANY way here, I think the greenery of the plant simply just adds to the contrasts that always make pictures interesting and it renders both a natural AND artistic touch. Great work in a great series!
I just love this series of big cats, this one is excellent!!!!
Beautiful series of photos. They are such awesome animals.
How would you like to be face to face with that cat in the wild? It moved ten feet in a split second. Cat food! Great picture. Todd

A splendid capture in interesting commentary. This is my favorite of your tiger shots thus far.
Amazing series this is, every single shot is simply outstanding, and the facial expressions of that tiger are so different!

What a fantastic shot. Beautiful colors and excellent details!!
Wonderful, and I don't mind the greenery either, it even seems to follow the shape of her face, kinda accenting her expression.
Again a wonderfull capture !

Maria, this is an incredible shot, I think the greenery around the face enhances your capture greatly.. Such grace and power. Your notes are a joy to read. Hugs. Diane. xx ust looked again this shot is really sublime!!!!
