I just found out today that a man who worked in my building was killed this weekend in a motorcycle accident. Jeff, like Harlin, was always in a good mood, always smiling. My friend at work who told me about Jeff said she saw him smiling every day, and thought, "how come you're in such a good mood every damn day?" and then one day she thought, "Okay, why am I in such a GRUMPY mood every day?" and it made her realize that she could just choose to be in a better mood, she didn't have to be grumpy all the time. I bet Jeff never knew what a profound influence he'd had on my friend's outlook on life. Sorry to be so long-winded in a comment, my friend. I guess this is all to say that your poem has touched me in a way it would not have only yesterday. Thank you.
