Description
Caymanite is a rare precious stone found only in the Cayman Islands. It is a hard dolomite formed during the Oligocene-Miocene epoch, similar to manganese nodules found on some deep ocean floors.
It occurs in layers of beautiful colors created by different metalic contents of the strata. Maganese dominates the black layers and veries in shade depending on how concentrated the solution was when it was formed. Iron predominates in the varying shades of red, nickle titanium and copper are also found in the strata and contribute their colours to the rock, any one remember any organic chemistry?
I fell in love with this rock 33 years ago, and when I am not busy with Vue, I spend my time either prospecting for caymanite, or shaping and polishing it.
Some of my work can be seen on my web page.
thanks for looking, it is appreciated.
Have a great week end!
Stay safe and healthy,
deevee,
Joe.

I don't think I knew about caymanite. Thanks for the geology lesson.
Nice history lesson with this render! Your caymanite work is really amazing. I advise everyone to take a look at it. Perhaps you could post a link to the site. I don't have it anymore or I would.
Thanks for the comments. I did not post the link because I thought it would be considered in bad taste. He it is : www.handmade.com.ky
