Description
Another shot of Lelant Mine which was used to extract copper and tin a while back. This mine is still one of a few to have a working steam engine.

All of the copper mines of the Upper Penninsula of Michigan are now silent. I have never seen a working steam engine at any of them. I saw the big stationary with shafts in a Fairmont cottage cheese factory in the town I grew up in. It's all in the flywheel. There is menace in this like a tooth that has been extracted.
Lovely image of part of our Heritage I am always in awe of these iconic buildings of Cornwall.. Almost like Castle like fortress, but having to withstand the ravages of economic change rather than invaders..
