Description
Nikon 7900 image.
I don't have many good images of male Pondhawks. They don't seem to spend much time in places where I can get close enough to get a shot and even when they do, they prefer perching on the ground. This always results in images with lots of distracting grass and other ground vegetation as backgrounds.
Then I met this little fellow. He practically attacked me over and over again, lol. I had sat down near the edge if my pond and he flew over to investigate me. He landed on my hat, my camera hand, my camera, my shirt, my back and even on the ground, lol. Eventually I managed to get him to land on my walking cane and thus this shot.
The female is intense green with black bands on her tail and no blue at all.

Lee, this is great. another new type of dragonfly. I guess I just don't pay attention or we just don't have too many different kinds. This one is great. The colors on it are really varied. Your pov is good and even the wood grain of your walking stick is clear and defined.
Gorgeous! :D
Well, sitting around seems to pay off. Brilliant shot, beautiful colours on this little chap, the detailing in those diaphanous wings is fantastic. I also like the detail in your cane. Bravo!!!!!
Magnificent colors and love the wings.
Well I'm so glad he did decide to eventually land here for you. Your cane really makes a great prop for this capture, the details and textures in the grain are great and the details on the dragongly along with the shiny colours are perfect. Excellent. xx
really a beauty Lee and excellent focus.I have looked and looked for your bug ID the other day and came up with nothing
What incredible colors and details! Superbly captured. Bunny
I don't think I will ever tire of seeing the beautiful colors or a dragonfly and you capture them so well.
Beautiful ...........
Another great photo! (I was just out this morning watching the dragonflies and things! A hummingbird even stopped to watch me for a moment, and I missed the shot...lol)
Amazing colors on these guys! The dragons and damsels have run their cycle up here now....not much for me till next year. TX for showing this one.
Such a great shot! Your reputation has no doubt made it's way around the neighborhood and he wanted his fifteen minutes!
Great capture...
