Description
Nikon 7900 image.
The Eastern Amberwings are physically the smallest of the Dragonfly species in my area. They are only about 1/2 inch in length. Blue Dashers (the next largest) are about 1 1/2 inch by comparison.
The females (one of which I will show tomorrow) have dark splotches in their wings and the overall color of the wings is not as amber as in the males.
All of them seem to be smiling when you can see their faces, lol.

Excellent photo!
It looks like its made of spun gold and liquid steel. Gorgeous.
Great clarity and detail, your work is hypnotic and exceptional, I like MrsLubners description of this and think it very apt. I would like to see this and several others as a plate in a reference book, it is after all an excellent macro full of detail. It is definately one of my favs. Awesome!!!!!
Great shot, I like the wings with the light glowing gold
Fabulous macro!
Such an exquisite capture! So golden and beautiful. Excellent shot. Bunny
This is beyond excellent... WoW Lee.. I haven't visited in a while, the details and colors are superb!
very beautiful dragonfly Lee and I have not seen any that small but I read about them.a damselfly has been the smallest I have seen at about 1"
I love the garnets set in the edges! If it weren't for the fine hairs on the thorax I'd swear it was a piece of fine jewelry. Your dragons would make an amazing calendar.
wonderful shot
