Henk
The famous Skull Rock is a rock formation located in Joshua Tree National Park along the main east-west park road. The formation was created by rain drops accumulating in tiny depressions and eroding the granite. As more rock eroded, more water accumulated, leading to more erosion until, as time passed, two hollowed-out sockets formed and the rock began to resemble a skull.

A great find. I think the pov you have helps to see the image intented in the stone. Is it me or does it seem appropriate that a desert has an attraction called Skull Rock???
A wonderful photograph and one that insires a painter with the desire to paint the scene , as composition is right on, along with the colours. Thank for sharing. egmont
Been there, loved it in person and you caught a memory for me.
Except for the color, this looks like a refugee from Easter Island. Great shot, Henk.
Another great shot! To me this is the most beautiful area of Joshua Tree N.P. (at least of the part I've seen...). This picture shows why!!
