Nikon 7900 image.
Here is another of my recent experiments with holding a background card with one hand and taking the shot with the other, lol. Todays' subject is a female Blue Dasher and she was very patient with me, lol.
This particular perch is just outside my house and many Dragonflies like it a lot. Unfortunately, it is situated in such a manner that there is no good angle to shoot from and have a pleasing background.
By holding various objects behind the subjects, I managed to avoid that problem. In this instance, I used an scrap piece of poster board. It worked but the resulting image seemed very flat, so in this case, I added some texture with postwork,

You're hand must be rock steady, to hold a card with one hand and get a shot like this, absolute magic! I like the textured card as well. Excellent!!!!

Wonderful pov adn your using the background card is working. I can't get up close enough to them from just the side or back much less reach around on one side with a hand clutching a card and come at it with the lens from the other side. You must hypnotize these critters first to be able to pull this off!

before the heat got going here in Dallas there were so many flying around my house and landing on some dead limbs that is being used for a vine to climb.just like you , I could walk outside to my patio and shoot away.my dogs sure do not like it when I have a camera in my hand.excellent idea you had and capture
