Description
Nikon 7900 image.
It has been 3 years since I started playing with digital photography and in all the time I have not gotten a single shot of a bird.
My little pocket Nikon takes great macro shots but is useless for anything smaller than a horse that is more than about 12 foot away, lol. That means I can never get anywhere close enough to get a bird pic.
Today's posting is the one exception to that fact.
Last Feb, On a very cold bright crisp day, I was working in the house I am building for myself and heard a loud bang against one of the large plate glass windows in it. Upon looking around outside, I noticed this Robin laying on the ground. At first I thought he was dead but after holding him in my hand for a moment, he opened his eyes and looked around. It took a bit of time for him to gather his wits and regain his strength but soon he managed to fly away. Woohoo twice. He survived and I got a few pics.
Thanks to those who take the time to comment.

A rare shot indeed! Woohoo for you both.
Wow, what a sweet story. :) Brings back some memories for me, when a HAWK crashed into my livingroom window - he had these huge claws and red eyes; I honestly didn't know if he was going to make it. It was the dead of winter, so I took him to my garage; and like your sweet Robin, he gathered his wits, and eventually flew away free. I did not own a camera at that time; so, I never got any pictures. This is a beautiful photo Lee. Perfect, in fact; and a real keepsake and treasure, that holds such a special story and memory.
Excellent shot. The detail is great right down to the whisps around the nose and back of the beak. Absolutely love it and great postwork.

Yeah windows are often responsible for stunning the poor things nice to hear the happy ending and you got a chance to get a nice close-up the dear things eyes still look a bit glazed too..
I forgot to rate this image...which deserves a 5
Really nice capture, glad the robin was OK too.
Amazing capture my friend. Great job you did helping the fellow to gather his wits and to fly away to freedom. God bless.
This is stunning I got curious about your camera and had to check it out I see so many that have these expensive camera and amazing lenses but I am sometimes not all that impressed with the photos I might see considering they've spent thousands on camera equiptment ... the details in this are wonderful, and I am like you I hardly ever can get a good shot of birds they are too dang fast for me.
