Description
Sorry for the crop to make it less commercial my last one was taken a few times on other websites without my permission, and hence the unseemly signature on the wing.. This one was seen with a rubber Snake which it was determined to kick to death and classical behaviour that they will undertake with little to no training.
Secretary Birds have two distinct feeding strategies that are both executed on land. They can either catch prey by chasing it and striking with the bill, or stomping on prey until it is rendered stunned or unconscious enough to swallow. Studies of this latter strategy have helped construct the possible feeding mechanisms employed by dinosaur-like 'terror birds' that once walked the earth five million years ago.

Wow... amazing capture ! incredible moment.
I was going to say that snake cannot be real. This is what happens your photos look so professional people just come and take them it is not right. I love the colour around the eyes :) Cathy xoxoxo
This is wonderful Danny! I love to watch these birds strutting about - they look so haughty and pompous!!! A brilliant capture, again!!
Wonderful photo of this fascinating bird.
Once again a great shot mate. You do do well with the birds lol.
Looks like he's doing some sort of ballet. Great capture.
great shot..
Brilliant shot, it's a shame you have to go to these measures to stop thieves. I guess this is one the the prices you pay for being so good.
Excellent photography and did you not tell about the snake, it would not have been spotted anyway. Fantastic timing and composition.
terrific capture ! really thought it was a real snake. You are THE skilled man to catch in action birds. Bravo Danny
Wonderful image. I bet that was one disappointed bird when he went to eat that snake.
Ahhh.. you've caught him in the action. The way a secretary bird has to be. A very fine image..of course ..lol.
wow, amazing bird, cool photograph......
What a stunning capture... superb done...:o)
Excellent capture showing their natural behavior
Beautiful action shot! How did you see that coming! 5 STARS!!
Awesome image! Great catch!
Wow!!! Awesome moment!!! Superb capture!!!!!!!!!!!
omg, superb shot:-)
A stomping good capture. No future in being a rubber snake ;-) thanx
Beautiful capture! I would not have known it was a rubber snake if you hadn't let on. Even with the water mark on the wing it is still excellent. It's a shame you have to resort to placing them in the middle of your photos to keep folks from stealing them. Great job!
This is a stunning shot! Right in the action!
