Description
Nikon 7900 image.
It was on the 4th of July of last year that I managed to get my first shot of a Dragonfly or Damselfly. I had tried unsuccessfully for going on two years before that and had about decided I would never get one.
I have no idea what changed but after that first capture, I started having a lot of success with capturing them. I now have a large collection of shots that show almost a dozen different species of Dragonflys as well as both male and female repesentatives of many of those. About 60 species left to see and capture, lol.
I even have managed to get a fair number of them to actually climb onto my fingers and let me take a shot, lol.
I decided to celebrate the past year of success with this collage.
pic 1 is a male Slaty Skimmer
pic 2 is a male Eastern Amberwing
pic 3 is a male Eastern Pondhawk
pics 4, 5, and 6 are unknown species of Damselflies
pic 7 is a female Eastern Pondhawk
pic 8 is a female Banded Pennant
pic 9 is an immature male Blue Dasher

This well realized collage is a great idea, Lee ! Indeed, you are now the master for dragonfly shots ! Congratulations and Happy Independance Day !
#2 and #9 are really outstanding. I love them all though. I can't imagine being able to charm these insects like you do. Excellent shots - all.
how may you keep'em in your hands????? it's impressive! i love all those shots!
Wow!! They're all just stunning! What a fantastic collection!
Very lucky to have this guys on your hand. Great Collage. Hugs
Wow, those are some great shots! Didn't know there are so many species of them... and as they are my favorite subject for the moment, I still have a lot of work too :) Did they never bite you? I read on Wikipedia that they can bite hard. Had 3 on my hand too the last couple of weeks, but they were all very friendly... Nice work!
Amazing group of work! BJ
what a gorgeous collage, nice to read the info as well, always handy
A very nice review of your successful "captures" over the past year!
Very cool shots!
Excellent display of the dragonflys and damsels you've captured! They are all so wonderful; how you get 'em to land on your finger, is beyond me. But way to go Lee. :) Keep them cool shots coming.
