Description
Going with a whole different landscape scene and feeling today. Again, this was taken in the High Desert of Southern California. These are Yucca trees also known as Joshua trees.
Mormon pioneers are said to have named this species "Joshua" Tree because the uplifted branches reminded them of Joshua praying, and pointing up to the heavens. Another version said, the Joshua Tree mimicked the Old Testament prophet Joshua waving them, with upraised arms, on toward the promised land.
And these trees grow very slowly. Growing only about an inch a year. (These trees are about 20 to 30 feet tall. That would make these old trees. If I did the math right...220-360 yrs. old).
Just some facts I found interesting and thought I would pass on.
Thank you all so much for taking the time to view my photos and comment as well.
Have a Fabulous Day!!!
Hugs.
