Ha ha...you do indeed love this effect, and have obviously discovered a 1000 ways of using the glow in your work. There's absolutely nothing wrong with experimentation, as it leads to new discoveries of what can or cannot be achieved - and is the sign of a great artist. You certainly have captured a hot look to this volcanic eruption - and especially on the below water portion.
