Description
I spotted several clumps of yellow flag or yellow iris growing along the edge of the Kennet and Avon with other wild flowers and grasses. This was the first time in many years of being here that I have seen so many yellow iris. This is the only species of yellow iris that grows wild. Yellow iris grow to heights of between one and three feet. Thought it looked lovely in the mist rising off the canal..
So I dedicate this one to all my friends and for the 500 favorite picks from my gallery..

Marvelous and elegant iris.... great shot and "lovely dedi Dan!
Very lovely. I love the mist behind it. I had no idea they came in yellow. Have only ever seen purple and white.
What a lush yellow! An excellent work with nice soft background!
This is marvelous. I don't think I've seen this wild yellow iris before or knew it existed. Its very different from the garden grown variety. Compact and very bright coloring. I have seen a white one with gently tinted violet colored petals in our grasslands. Its like looking back in time and seeing where our hybrid varieties were conceived. Wonderful shot!
Such a beautiful colour Danny with excellent details when viewed at full size. The mist / DOF is amazing and the whole composition just perfect. A lovely find. xx
