Introducing the USS Savannah
This image is of my latest project the USS Savannah. This ship is design to travel to the Jovian system and to visit 2 of its moons, Ganymede and Europa. The model was created in both Bryce 6 and 6.1.
The model Savannah weighs in at 164 Megs with 65209 objects and 4886968 polygons. In future images you will see 2 Landers attached to the T section coming off the main crew quarters at the front of the ship. Both of these models weigh in a piece at 45.250 Megs with 9026 objects and 1031752 polygons each.
Once all items are attached the Savannah will weigh in at 254 Megs with 83261 objects and 6950472 polygons. All in all, what this means is that this will be quite a beast to maneuver in any scene.
As Bryce advances so does the means of creating more complex models become possible.
I hope to show more of this project in the coming months with the Lander being the next post after this picture.
As with all my models the concepts and designs are mine and I hope that you will take the time to view and comment on my work.

Fantastic! Just plain Fantastic!
Amazing modeling, David. My ONLY suggestion - and this is quite tame - is to soften or lower the bump map on the Jupiter texture.
Very cool ship. I look forward to seeing more of it. (But I second the comment on the Jupiter map - Ganymede could use some more bump, Jupiter less).
Modified Discovery Class Interplanetary Spacecraft, perhaps using the new HAL 10,000, the non psycho version.
Hey guy thanks for the comments, I do realize the bump map on Jupiter was a little high, but that is the way I wanted to render it to see how it would look. I created that bump map myself. As far as Ganymede is concern, Im still playing around with that map. Since there are no really good images of Ganymede I will back off from that moon in future images. This is still just a test picture as I hope to refine certain thing in the next few pictures I post..;-)
Fantastic work!!!!!!
OMG Amazing detail
Hmm time to do a travelog of their travels and mission. Yeah lets see more.
You've got to be about the best Bryce modeler--ever! Not to mention patient. It's a fantastic new model.
And I thought I was a purist! Fabulous work as always. Just can't fault this. 5
I'm so glad I zoomed in to see the little astronaut putting around! I love the fact you use that "hard light" that you get in photos in space, it adds a lot of realism. As for the Jupiter bump, maybe a tiny bit of blur would soften it just right--I do like the look of the raised cloud decks, though!
Top model, superb image :)
Incredible Bryce modeling! Superb!
tremendous modeling! love the astronauts that give a sense of scale for the large spacecraft
Glad to see you are still modelling in Bryce and posting. Very nice image.
The model is excellent, as is the lighting. Is the bump map on the cloud surface of jupiter a little bit deep though?
Absolutely unbelievable. I like working in Bryce, but this is incredible. You must have one heck of a computer!
