Description
After studying this thing, I have more questions than answers!
Anyone out there a marine biologist?
It's probably pretty common around Kitty Hawk, but I've never seen one before.
After ripping this chunk off, should I throw it back?
The animal seed pod stalk!

Bizarre and cool.
Almost looks like some whale vertebrae. Whatever it is really cool, and your light situation on it turned out great.
Unrealy, looks so pre-historic. Fantastic find and great presentation!
Pretty cool discovery! Well set in scene! Bravo!
I thought this was a spoof at first...like one of your magazine covers. I see that it really has tiny shells in it? Is this for real? I never knew this was how a snail procreated. I thought they laid mucos sacs in bunches on some rock or such. Very interesting and weird....like the start of a sci-fi horror flick. Jim...are you there? Jim? (hahaha)
Very cool image. Thanks for sharing your find - I've never seen such a thing!
We called them conch eggs as a child (I grew up on those beaches). But I never fathomed how a conch could produce such a huge object from within its shell in a matter of what: hours, weeks? Let me get that straight: I've only ever seen them about this length. Are you saying you pulled it from a Twenty METER single strand!?! Daaaamn! (Nice composition by the way)
Excellent!
Bizzare organic stuff! It seems a 3D render :)
Bet it would boil down to make a tasty stock.
when i first saw the thumb it reminded me of a skeleton something..hehe looks fabulous against the black background!
I've never seen it!Cool presentation!!!
