"The common cormorant or shag Lays eggs inside a paper bag, The reason you will see no doubt It is to keep the lightning out. But what these unobservant birds Have never noticed is that herds Of wandering bears may come with buns And steal the bags to hold the crumbs." ~ Christopher Isherwood
BJ (mamabobbijo) requested a photo of the culprit responsible for the rash of violent and uncalled for decoy dunkings. Well, I wrongly blamed an Anhinga when it turns out it was really this nefarious looking Cormorant! Yes, those piercing eyes are their actual color -- full of malice and dark intent to overturn unsuspecting decoys. If you see this fellow in your area, go inside, lock your doors, and call the authorities immediately! I have a major project at work so will not be around much for the rest of the week, but I wanted to make sure I got the word out. PS. - I hope that no one experiences any triskaidekaphobia today! ;'] -----

Thanks so much! The decoys look so real until you get to their feet! I consider 13 to be especially lucky so no woories! BJ
A beautiful bird, excellent captured. Fantastic photo!!
A lovely image! Very beautiful....captures a serene (yet threatening..uh oh) moment, and inspires great energy and atmosphere..... I love the colours in this composition, especially in the facial region..... a stunning long neck as well....... very erect and alert! The eye, is most intriguing........ wish I could see a close up of it! :) A superb composition, not to mention a very cute title!
Very nice capture picture erland
Hmmm aren't cormorants and anhingas one and the same ? or am I mixed up and they're just in the same family...guess I better read your link huh lol ....well, any-way, this is a goody Kort :o) Hugz ! oh, and you were def right about my "haiku" pic...it does need some lightening up...thanks for the candor !!!
haha.... reminds me of the same kinda thing here in Toronto. We put large plastic owls on our balconies to scare the pigeons away, the pigeons are usually seen sitting on the plastic owls! Very cool shot, the water gives it its own style. Nice work, and a funny avatar btw!!
An excellent image of this cormoran!
What a cracking image at least the decoy was put to a good purpose..
