Description
I put a frame around this because I posted it first at a site with a black background. Wondering what it will like here with the white bg.
Also seems that I have the shields mixed around. The Roman on the ground whould have the kneeling shield while the German/barbarian should have the round. Thanks to Professor Hopalong for that history lesson ;)
This is what happens when you let artistic license take over :) Lol!
I'm off to see Path to Terabithia with friends today. I'm hoping that it is a fun, fantasy get away for the afternoon. Enjoy your week ending!!
Btw, this looks SO much better on a black background. ROME

Interesting and beautifully done scene!
WOOOW! Aweeeeeesome image you made! Lots of hard work too. the scene are fantastic, and those colors are soo gorgeous here.
definitely dark and ominous, perfect for battle! and I do like the depth you've created in this ;)
Very nice...you've been watching HBO's Rome series....LOL... Excellent work...
Well done. 5+.
I'm sure in the melee you end up picking up whatever shield is around. Superb concept and execution here, well done!
Superb work Nancy. Your use of lighting is superb and that brooding sky is incredible. Excellent++
I do believe it's perfect! I couldn't do this thats for sure lol thanks for coming by gallery I have gotten no ebots for a long time so forgive me for not stopping by but I love your work!hugs
i really love this one. very nice the way u work ur focus.
That's absolutely AWESOME, Nancy!!! :))
Great sense of movement. Well done. As for the shields, that depends on the date of your image. If this is the fall of Rome in the late 4th century then the Roman would look very different, probably clad all in chainmail with a large oval shield.
A magnificant battle.... I agree it does look like a wonderful oil painting.... Great Image. Karen :)
Wow that's a superb scene, the action you've got across here is stunning, top work indeed.
This does an excellent job of getting the feeling of the action across. Great posing of the figures, excellent details. Being something of a history buff, I admire the details in the armor and shields. I really like this one.
Are you sure it shouldn't be called, "The Triumph of the Barbarians?" grin. Historical accuracy can always be tricky in a picture. I remember having Normandy D-Day stripes painted on some fighter planes in the Pacific Theater. Sigh! Even when we try so hard, it happens. Still a fine picture.
atmospheric.
Beautiful image and pose, mood...bravo!!!:o)
lol historical mistakes aside this is great work!!
It is a very beautiful image! Remarkable work of art! Excellent! Five stars!
