Description
All I changed was,
(1) to switch ON the Image-Based Lighting (or IBL, which turns off the Sun), and re-render the original glasshouse image.
The original render took about 3 hours. The IBL version, (ahem!) took two weeks to make this image at 2200x1375
I also made an exterior view, and some experiments which I'll post over the next few days.
Enjoy, and please feel free to comment.
Tried IBL?,
is it 100x slower for you too?
Hmmm, but it certainly looks smoother and slightly "improved" to me. But so expensive.

Yes this is a brilliant Scene.
Beautifully done.
Could radiosity reach the same result with less render time?
this is absolutely fantastic!!!!! excellent!
outstanding interior design. I'm trying to teach myself how to paint in soft shadows, by erasing on layer, over a darker one. Saves hours of render time when done right.
Superb interior design yes !! wonderfull lighting & shadows... Outstanding outside !!! dreammy place & space play, xxxxx,
excellent image!!!!
The picture looks splendid. The lights are quite natural.
Well done!!! Beautiful colors, wonderful perspective.
great scene
Love it.... Please tell me once you turned off the sun lighting in bryce how many smaller and what types of lightting did you place in the house. Is it possable to see a wire fram to get better idea of what you did?
Extraordinary !
It's super gorgeous but I can not wait 2 weeks for a render....and you probably have a better machine/machines than myself. Won't be using it anytime soon.
Beautiful scene....the lighting really makes this one work! But a 2week render??? Hope you gave your machine a vacation after this one! It sure deserves it. Excellent work.
Impressive design work!
Very good colors and cool lighting. Seeing outside through the well placed windows makes it timeless.
Reminds me of a museum somewhere in London, a cool but inviting place. But that pointy yellow beanbag on the left doesn't look very comfy.
great image Jim. is there any way to exclude glass from the IBL? I think that is what is eating the time so heavily. In C4D we usually exclude glass from the GI calculations or at least the create GI portion.
Fantastic design my friend! But for me tooooo long time to wait...aaargh!!!
Fantastic render and scene!!
