Description
I am close to embarassment, posting on the Writers Gallery. Some years ago I tried to write a "plasm", in the tradition of Old Testament writing..or at least sounding like a psalm of David. When written, I found release from events which were heavy on my mind and saw value in this type of writing. I post...gingerly.
"Oh mighty Lord, we are here in the mountain of your creation.
High you have led us and guided our feet
On this path above the valley of our beginning.
Yet, rocks are around us, Oh Lord, hiding our enemy.
Our enemy watches from the cleft,
Hides in the brambles around us
His eyes follow us as we journey
Watching, waiting for us to stumble.
He places limbs in our path, boulders in the road
He whispers from hiding to us, Oh Lord,
To turn back, to leave this path we follow
Up the mountain of Your creation!
We pass between the high walls, in the shadowy vale
Oh Lord, guide us now, lift us from the shadows
And from the whispers of the enemy.
Seal our ears from evil,
Open our hearing to the sweet sound of your voice
That we might follow on
Up this mountain of Your Will!
Let us look above the shadows, raise our hearts,
Oh God

I am not adapt at writing, but obviously you are.excellent work Tom
Oh! Tom. Do not post this work "gingerly", please. Such beauty of thought is here. I have been here quite a while now, reading and reading again... I have walked the moutainside. Sat with the sun on my skin, sat so many times in the shadows too. Reached the summit, seen over the brow of the hill. My heart is raised. I stumbled so many times. We are all in his loving hands, dear Tom Dart. Thank you for this gift to us all. God Bless You and Hugs. Diane.
This is beautiful. There IS one thing I wish you would change, though. I'd like to see you take out the quotation marks in your title. This is, indeed, a psalm, and a very good one. The form is right, the content is appropriate for the form, and it's beautifully written. I hope you'll post more here in the writer's gallery! (Be embarassed if you need to be, but post anyway!) This is excellent work. Ahhh. I see you haven't given us the opportunity to rate your work. Well, I'm giving it a five anyway.
I don't know what is required to make a psalm. I do know all that is required for good writing is a heartfelt message, and the ability to touch someone. This has touched many in, many ways, so it is more than good. The words are well crafted, and come straight from your soul, I can see where it would ease not only your heart but others as well. Author! I seem to remember a qoute, " though sparrows be but, two a farthing, He has numbered and counted each as his own." I love it, BJ
I regret of no no not maitriser English, this text must be magnificent quite as the photo!
This is indeed a psalm. A very beautiful and appropriate one. Touching. Very much like David wrote. This reminds me of the story 'Hinds Feet in High Places'. I hope God gives you hinds feet.
