Description
The Zebra Longwing is a brush foot butterfly, and native to Florida where it is the State Butterfly, very graceful, if a bit slow in flight, but can get away quickly if need be... often seen at a roost in large numbers of up to 70 I have only seen them in at most 20 or 30...An interesting fact is that males will wait until a female emerges and spray a chemical to keep other males away

wonderful depth of field and such a gorgeous butty......lovely patterns....and how handy to keep males at a distance !! I bet it stinks....
Superb picture!
Beautiful crisp capture of our lovely state butterfly!
I have not seen one in person. this is an awesome capture
A wonderful composition and excellent work!!
Fantastic Danny! In every aspect. And you're right. They appear in clusters of many - One time shortly before winter I saw an underbrush swarming with them - there were most definitely way more than 70 - I guesstimate 150 -200. Unfortunately the light conditions prevented me from making even one usable shot...You would have loved to see that...
A very interesting butterfly. Excellent. Aloha
