Description
Almost a decade since I first created this chess set and column in Raydream, they are finally taking on the realistic qualities I originally envisioned. A re-do of my second posting ever here at Rosity, but making use of the visual power of Vue 6. The only changes I made from the original are the lighting and atmosphere. Everything else is exactly the same. What a difference a couple of upgrades can make. :-)
Original Vue scene created in Vue 4 back in 2003: Glass Chess Set
This one in Vue6 on a Mac; no content postwork.
Only rendered in preview (oversized). I'm sure final would be even better, but I don't have the cpu time available.
Thanks to all who have viewed my work through the years.

OMG !!!! Fantastic work and excellent color, perspective, lighting !!! All is perfect !!! :)
The material is of excellent quality. Beautiful lighting and great reality!
Nice image. Interesting point about how the technology has developed and improved over the years. Anyone remember 3D on the Amiga? Things have come a long way since that red chequered bouncing ball. :-) Just look at those lights and reflections: gorgeous.
Oh! Knight :-) A stunningly beautiful creation!! Incredible work!! Light, shadows and reflections are truly ashtonishing!!! You know I don't know how you do it!! You do know how beautiful I think this work is :-) Makes my heart sing to see you posting again....Gentle hugs for all. Diane.
Remember 3-D on the Amiga? I can do better than that, I programmed 3-D on a Tandy Color-Computer II over 26 years ago. :-) Thanks for all the wonderful comments.
How about the Vic 20, with its overwhelming 7k of ram! I too am from the old days, having cut my programming teeth hacking C64 games, moving onto basic, then C, to C++. Ok, enough about me; nice work, especially like the refraction.
HEY HEY HEY ! the most amazing view today in gallery - love them - in big size I was looking at his all so close that my head was inside monitor !LOL there is so much beauty and amzing colors, textures, lighta and that what is inside them - other world for me desert places, towers dark mountains LOL I can see there a lot of magical stories - how the Kings playing with your chees and change the world inside them - evey one have other elements from real world! I wanted to see the face of player reflecting in this first one this tower of hope ! WONDERFUL - SHOULD BE IN TOP GALLERY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bUt I am only dark princess for me that's top!
The render is certainly amazing. I don't know much about the 3D render programs available but the rich translucent colours of the pieces and their shadows are admirable. Excellent work!
Excellent work!
Nice creation and happy ten years birthday! I prefer the ten years piture because light and atmo is warmer and translucient chess pieces is more closed to the amber.
Very nice, but your board is turned wrong by 90 degrees. The white square is always in the players right near corner.
Exceptional - a nice progression indeed from your earlier image
Yes it's amazing how things have progressed, I too started on the Amiga 500, those were the days :,) great chess set.
Both are Fabulous, but this one is Extraordinary!!!
STUNNING!!! jaw dropping WOW!
Excellent render! I especially love the Rook closest to the camera; the internal reflection on that piece are amazing. You almost every piece of the set in that one Rook.
I remember the family thinking your parents were "crazy" to buy that Tandy Computer for "the kid." How glad I am that we did not listen to their voices! A truely beautiful image!! MOM
