I like the blurred background; that is so cool. In photography, it's a classy touch. Nice originality on the composition, Lisbeth. I can just feel him being bored, and foolishly wasting his magic on something that should be more worthwhile...like ending world hunger and bringing lasting peace. ;)
Great idea with the wand-turning of the pages. The DOF works fine as well.
I love the intense look of concentration as tries to focus on the words and you can feel the tension in his arm as he refrains from waving the want as he reads: "wave two circles, counterclockwise, while clearling say "rise of lady of darkness,making sure your words end preciscely when you finish waving exactly the second circle, know step forward and......" Oh bloody hell, I'll never get this right.
