Description
For those of you outside the USA, this is a Mockingbird. It is the Florida (and a few other states) State bird. They have a beautiful voice (most of the time) but are very scrappy and love to torment other birds and even cats. Anyway this was shot at my mom's place in Orange Beach, Alabama. Thank you for your much appreciated comments, have a wonderful day!
Please see full size, the preview images just don't look half as good most times.

Oh, I'll be happy to hear the birds singing again in a few months. It's so quiet in the morning now... Lovely bird and beautiful capture!!
Superb capture and such a wonderful wee bird, Wendy!! I never saw one before. My thanks. He looks like King of his domain to me!! Hugs. Di.
What a puffy guy - well captured and they are persistent! Last year I had one sitting on one spot and sang for hours at a time - non stop!!
very nice shot, it is good to see the eye colour.
Great capture with perfect DOF, never seen one before.......thought they would be bigger the way some ppl have explained them Stuart

Nice shot Wendy, I got a few more shots of a Mockingbird today.
Exellent shot, sharp pic! We got 'em here in Virginia. There was a news video a few years back showing a pair dive bombing people coming too close to their nest in D.C.
I heard many when I was a child but in Texas I do not hear them singing. they look so much like a sparrow I would not know by sight. outstanding capture
Oooooooo Nice shot Wendy!!!! What a gorgeous bird! :)))

Fabulous, you have THE PERFECT EYE for photos! :)
For a second, I thought I was looking in one of those National Geographic Magazines. Very beautiful capture...Outstanding. Aloha
It is the state bird of Texas, too! Lovely shot. I took a shot of a mockingbird yesterday, but your shot is much better! :)
Must be a tough bird, because Orange Beach was beat up twice recently by both Ivan and Katrina! Always wondered what happens to birds like this in such major hurricanes. Somehow they survive. Nice shot Wendy!
I am glad to have discovered your gallery. This mocker is excellent.. Your bird shots are the sort I wish for..
