The Northwestern side of Mt.Shasta..taken from a rest stop on Highway 97 coming south from Oregon..on a good day it can be seen from 100 miles away from certain points...is 14,162 feet above sea level..has a 17 mile diameter and 5 glaciers..the most recent eruption was in 1786...all this info was taken from an information plaque at the stop...quite an impressive sight...

And let's not forget that it is still considered an "active" volcano although no real activity has been recorded in some time. This and Mt. Lassen were both visible from the property I owned near Red Bluff and on a clear day I was awesome to look out and see both incredible volcanoes towering in the distance. Great photo of this magnificent mountain.
Nice shot! I used to live near Mt. Lassen and got up there, but never got to Shasta. Happy New Years and a wonderful 2007 to you and yours!
Well composed foreground and the contrasts on the mountain very conspicuous. Excellent mountain scene.
Agreed that the foreground adds a lot. Isn't the snow cover sort of sparse for this time of year?
Wonderful capture! The foreground really adds perspective to the size/distance of the mountain.
Great capture...
