Where lions used to roam by busi2ness

Thank you for comments and visiting Guard the den:
I put together a collage of the farm Bona Bona where I photographed the lion series. It is safe when under the watchful eye of professional staff. It is a privilege to see and hear lions in an area where they had been exterminated during the 1860's. Hats off to these farm owners. They have to continually endure public scrutiny when there is an outcry against captive animals. Despite this they diligently rectify what had gone wrong in the past as far as it is feasible without jeopardizing live stock farming in the area. Ironic that the town in the area is called Leeudoringstad, it translates to Lion+thorn+city.
I managed to capture the lion cubs today but the lioness was very aggressive and made it difficult to get good photographs. I will upload at least one soon.
Have a super week!

Very very nice, Piet, although I don't know I'd feel comfortable walking around regardless of how safe I was told it was. I like our safari parks where you have to stay in your car with your hands and head inside. :-) Lovely expanse of land.
My fav. animals...Lovely image!
Oh my God! This is just pure genious!!! What an amazing creation!!!!! Im in such awe here i cant even find the proper words to describe how impressed i am. I shall just applaud you instead....clap clap clap.
Have a wonderful evening Piet. #:O)
I have seen on National Geographic regarding situations of Lions and Man. Not an easy life living among the lions as farmers. Beautiful work here. Aloha
Wooowww Piet, dit is mooi!!! Fantastic presentation and beautiful captures! Big Bravo!!!
Great collage - superb postwork - and interesting read! What more can we ask for? Thanks for sharing!
Oh yes, very nice and beautiful pictures, I like this composition!!!! Good day ;)
An excellent collage, Piet - informative, entertaining and aesthetically pleasing. In addition it's supported by concise, clear and interesting notes. It's difficult for us in the UK to understand your ease among these magificent animals - living in a land where the fiercest wild creature is a wildcat, not much bigger than a large tabby cat, and so rare that very few Brits will ever see one. It's good to expand our horizons. Thank you. Mike
Very, very beautiful collage! The light and colours are superb! Creative and beautifully done!
What a stunning collage. Fantastic shots, wonderful presented. Superb!!
Excellent collage, love it, bravo!!
So many things to explore...this is a fantastic collage !
Aren't you scared being there in their habitat? You have captured some awesome shots......
What a wonderful landscape to go animal watching in. It looks like much of the Southwestern USA! Of course, our wild animals aren't as big as yours.
Ooooooh,Oom Piet, this is such a creative upload ! Fantastic montage work ! You are living in a fabulous country...thanks for sharing such great images ! :~)

Fantastic collage and a beautiful glimpse into the farm. I especially like the big cat ontop, gives the impression that he goes whereever he want to. I look forward to seeing the cubs. Thanks for the upload and the notes, I always enjoy reading them!!

Well done Piet! What a work to show where all of your lion shot coming from! I am looking forward to the lion cub shot! when...when...when...?
Beatifully done...and great postwork..
Terrific collage composition there, Piet! The extermination of the lions reminds me of the insane extermination of the bison/buffalo in the early West back in the 19th century...kill for the love of killing! Glad the lions are making a comeback.
What a wonderful collage you have put together. A great presentation. VERY well done!!! John
Stunning presentation all around, Piet! Hard to imagine having a farm of such creatures, but something I'd truly like to see. Thanks to your amazing photography, I can! Thanks so much for these!

Wonderful presentation! I'm wonder how the people of Africa are seeing the animals of the North!? Are they as fascinated as we are? And not only the african animals are amazing for me but also the colors of the land! :)
Wow! Great sharp photographs...colours and atmosphere are very well done Thank you for that informative bit. You are definitely one brave man .... I'll tell ya that! I think that the closest I've come to anything remotely like this is the zoo or African Lion Safari.... but still, I'd say this is a much better view then the one from my car window! :)) :))
