"Progress might have been all right once, but it has gone on too long." ~ Ogden Nash
I decided it was time to get back to my St. Marys/Cumberland Island photos once again, before the year is over. This image was taken on the ferry to Cumberland Island, looking out over the vast intercoastal salt marshes. Facing south, you can just make out the ominous profile of some giant mill or factory, probably just over the Florida border. I not sure what impact these facilities have on the fragile ecosystem of marshes, but I know it cannot be a good. I like to imagine the area 150 years ago, before all the industrialization and influx of humanity. This area was beautiful and we could see what a vital wetland it still was, but sights like the above were constant reminders that man was having his way with Mother Nature once again. Weather during the entire trip was overcast, hazy and rainy -- so don't expect to see too many blue sky photos, though there were a couple. The boat ride to Cumberland Island lasted about 45 minutes and was quite pleasant. You can see some more of my St. Marys photos HERE and more of my Cumberland Island photos HERE -----

The haze .... oh the haze! What a beautiful photo of what im guessing is an ugly factory. Even the most un-beautiful (is that even a word?) subjects may appear gorgeous when captured properly as you just proved. Well done mr K. Oh and i just have to join in with everyone else....ROTFLMAO @ your avatar! #:oD
You've turned something ugly into something beautiful . The reverse can be said for your latest avatar. lol
With that blue haze, it certainly ain't Cucumber Island ! hehehe just kidding. Man is pretty good a destroying the environment...if we could just WAKE UP, before it's too late, but looking at climate change, I think it's already too late...EECK ! ~Cheers~ :o)
What a fascinating and almost never ending scenery! I love the rainy atmosphere! Excellent posting! Thanks for it!!!
I agree completely with Rozanne !!! (oscilis)
Lovely contrast of the 3 plans of image and colours. Great composition. So lovely PIC
The sort of day that often doesn't get much better I'd say. Very nicely done.
Ciao Kort, nice to find 5 minuts to go to see some photographs on RR ! I love the composition of yours, and the mood of this place. Perfect to make me feel depress, lol ! Have a nice evening. Hugs
A wonderful almost pastel landscape, excellent compo, atmosphere and mood!!
Wonderful compo!!! superb image! Bravo!!!
And those buildings will keep on coming. I can imagine that some time in the future this wetland will be all gone, done in by man. Glad you shared this with us. Excellent job. Aloha
great in pastels.....
Impresive shot buddy! Perfect compo and well another jenius shot from you.... Thanks for sharing! Hope you are keeping well! :)
Gorgeous haze landscape, beautiful mood in this !! Fantastic !! :)
from Mexico border all around the coast to the northeast end of Florida there are sights like this. we need oil but at what costs
Looks foggy indeed! Is that an industrial area in the background? So strange as there are a similar area here with a lake / marshland and industrial stuff in the background (from a certain angle of course). Wonderful capture, have a great eve! 8;o)
What is this, the moors in Scotland? Or a shot of Los Angeles? Can't see a blessed thing for all the fog. A cool spot for vampires to hold sway. Pretty good stratification, though. Oh well, whatever it is, it's nicely done!
rain all day but you still got the shots . cool one
Your pic givesstrong meaning how man is ruining the environment...The factories are like ghosts off in the distance that seem to be destroying the land around it..nice work Kort...
Ah...but Mother Nature has 'her way' with Man,as well, doesn't she?Powerful imagery and most important and intelligently expressed thoughts,Kortalouche.Well done,my friend.-M :^)
seen from a distance and in the haze even those structures can make for a beautyful photo... although one would wish, they weren't necessairy in this region....
