Description
On my recent holidays (2006)as we were packing up to leave Yeoval, my uncle said he had found a cute little pet for us to take home....we declined his offer.
The lovely (one eyed)little porcupine then dissapeared over the paddocks a short while after his visit leaving us with a handful of lovely shots (to post later) in exchange for a feed of ants on a nearby log. It is simple things like this that make any wildlife encounter so special. call me chicken but...I refrained from stroking his georgeous long nose. **sigh**
Enjoy his company.
comments welcome as always.

Interesting shot! Yeah I wouldn't stroke that thing myself ;) I would have probably given it more room in this shot so it would be easier for peopler to work it all out but it's still a good shot! :) Thanks for sharing! :) Hope you have a lovely week!
yuh I can completely understand your stance on not stroking him :))) Nice capture.
Wow, a pretty freaky shot, I had no idea what it was. Very intriguing capture!!
oh yes, very nice macro I like so much this animal!!! Good week ;)
I had to rescue one from a middle of the road in a heavy rain not long ago...never mind a spikes, was a pleasure to get close hand on hand (spikes) with it! Great close up!
Yeah getting hand on hand would be awsome but I didn't want to distress the little critter unnecesarily, oh by the way in Australia we call them Echidnas. I referred to it as a Porcupine as I thought others would know that term better. Jenny
Nice one...almost abstract in composition!
I can't think why you did not pick it up, LOL! Gorgeosly weird animal well captured in its "rolled up" state.
used to have a wild porquepine come and eat patatoe chips out of my hand. and if i was sitting down it would climbe on me and sit down . the quills are finer longer and sharper then your kind in picture. advice to patting them. only ever pat in one direction. allso don,t hug or pict them up!!! my dog and cats did not like it but never ever bothered it.
