Description
Lo, here the gentle lark, weary of rest,
From his moist cabinet mounts up on high,
And wakes the morning, from whose silver breast
The sun ariseth in his majesty;
- Shakespeare (Venus and Adonis)
It is good to upload again! My old cam broke down, the new cam is still not very used to me and tonight I have the first visible evidence that I managed to aim the cam in the right direction, LOL!
This is a photo of the Clapper Lark, a very common but very shy resident in most parts of South Africa. They are not very easy to capture and I was lucky to get close with the 17-85mm lens.
Thanks to all views and comments, and a special thanks to the local photographers plus
Kai and Andreas offering help to master my new cam. You guys are great.

A wonderful study of the lark. The bird's color and texture is similar to that of a tree. I wonder if that's nature's contribution of camouflage to the little guy.
Fantastic work! SUPERB!*****
Looks like he's sitting down. Quite a Pose....Beautiful ... Aloha
Wikkel Spies ne :) WOW new cam huh, and D30 as well.... Im very envious. Great capture, the clarity is perfect, well done.
Beautiful work Piet its a fine capture! Would love to know what you think of the 30D ... thinking of getting it myself :D
Great one!Love the comp and colors....Congrads on your new cam :)
Phenomenal capture and crop! It looks like the sharpness could be taken up a half notch, and then this would be absolutely perfect. Too bad you couldn't include the soundtrack, as with your cheetahs... I'll bet this little fellow has a lovely song.
Splendid capture, outstanding details. Excellent result with your new cam!!
Beautiful...
