Description
OK, I don't mean to go macro-crazy here, but this was just too, too cool to pass up.
Let me qualify this by saying I hate scorpions more than just about any of God's creations. However, this was just such a wonderful example of what's cool in the animal kingdom that I had to shoot it.
Megan is the little girl who found this mother and all her 40 or so passengers.
I only hope the photo it meets with whatever expectations you might have had. :)
I'll be the first to say it: "Eew!"
Enjoy.

Wowww this is a veru good mother ^_^ great shot bye bye Orietta
I am with you 100% when it comes to scorpions. AS long as I can remember, they have given me the creeps. This shot doesn't help a bit, lol. That being said, let me hasten to add that I think it is a marvelous photo. The technical aspects are spot on and the subject is fascinating. My thanks to Megan for findong it and to you for sharing it. It is a VERY good photo.
A very good macro capture of the specimen.
Very intiguing indeed!!!
Oh !! wonderful Megan's found & fantastic shot !! but horrible too oh la la... Because scorpions babies are eating their mother to live !! Yeah if Um don't run away quickly after laying it's the first meal babies..Brrrr ! Fantastic done congratulations for you and Megan the " clever eye " q:)Magali

I love this shot, nice to see a whole family. Thanks to shared this!
BTW, for any of you who'd like to see the full-size version, which will really give you the creepy-crawlys, it's at my website at http://www.waldosworld.org/photos/scorpion_cropped.jpg You can really see the little buggers even better -- like you'd want to, right? LOL
Yikes!!!!! It gives me the shivers just looking at it!!! I remember how swollen my husband's hand was after a sting from one of these. But it's a great closeup, I have to admit. Never seen them with so many babies on their back! But still... eeeuuuwwww!!!
There should be a limit to the number of young one of these can have!!!! This is WAY TOO MANY "children". What a super find and great shot.
Impressive !!!!!!
Really a very interesting photo. Excellent shot ! Congratulations friend !
You just go macro crazy ;-) Great photograph!!
Excellent shot with marvelous clarity! I definitely side with you as far your regard for scorpions. I am so glad that they don't find the rain and damp of the Pacific Northwest to be their liking.
I really don't like any type of insects i can't even look at some of them ....but i really love this photo of a scorpion carrying it's babies i've never seen anything like it even on nature programs... it's a brilliant photo
Hurry! Stomp down with the heel of your boot and grind, you might just get them all! ... ;) Excellent picture. Todd
