Description

I saw this image by Mike Verta in a brochure for the Maxwell Renderer at Siggraph 06 in Boston, and thought, since I already had built a decent LW R2D2 mesh, I'll build this ship or station hallway in LW too, and see what gives. I don't know what software Mike used, but I am pretty happy with this outcome in LW 8.5 (haven't installed LW 9 yet). Rendered via F-Prime, which is probably pretty close to Maxwell, from where I sit. Fantastic modelling work, but the walls seem too much like a white-clay style rendering. Adding some shiny sections or playing with bump maps and so on would help immensly.

Nice bright lighting, good scene. I'm a little unsure about the incomplete pipe around the hatch though - the dark gap looks a little odd.

Thanks, for the comments. If was a fun scene to build. All of you get to do the same or similar exercises yourself, and much better. That's why I give my models away. I have cleaned the R2 mesh up yesterday, and will repost it this weekend at my site.

Awwws! He looks so cute, waiting patiently there, great stark white and greys on the corridor and the color scheme looks great on the little guy, beautifull reflection on the floor great render nice modeling! ^^

Great R2D2 model! And I really like the floor material, though I wouldn`t expect usage of polished stone in a star ship which probably should be as light as possible:)
