Description
Still on the garage roof shooting Johns Hopkins hospital. This feature definitely grabbed my eye. Looked like a greenhouse on this wing whereas it was echoed by open porches with gingerbread on the opposite wing. Then the 'DOH' moment struck.
This greenhouse is actually over the pedestrian concourse from the Outpatient Center to the main complex. This is where the elevators ascend/descend between the concourse level and the main level... also connect with the Metro system. Interesting that they kept it in a 'period' style that suggested an arboretum or similar feature.
BTW: I've had some queries about my misspelling of the name. No. It really is Johns Hopkins and not John Hopkins or even John's Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins was a wealthy merchant whose first name was actually his great-grandmother's maiden name. I'm sure it made sense at the time. For all you Beverly Hillbillies fans out there, John Hopkins is the fellow Granny Clampett studied with to get her 'doctorate.' It was a 3-week course IIRC.
Time to look over the skyline a bit now... Stay tuned.
Enjoy; thanks for viewing.
