Description
these are surprising hard bugs to capture. when you move close they move sideways around to the other side of the tree in a split second. I never tried to find their name so they will be bugs for now
thanks for viewing and comments
I added information about the defunct mall in my comments yesterday

Those are Cicadas Richard! And VERY hard to shoot!!! You got TWO!!!! Wow!! I did not know about the sideways movement, good to know!!! Excellent capture my friend!!
Magnificent capture Richard. You must have tremendous skills in stealth! lol Lovely work Sir. Just going to look at the mall, once again. Steve :o)
Cool shot. Interesting are the ways of nature. Well done.
Scatter bugs is a good name, I see, I scatter! hehehe Excellent shot Richard...
Great shot of the cicadas- usually one finds their shells left after they've changed into the full insect- and,of course, the buzzing sound that one hears on hot, late summer days. However, your image is unique, enabling one to actually see these curious locusts.
Oh yep, I know about those little critters...they're so cute and funny aren't they :o) ...good shot ! hugs
I'm not great into bugs!!!LOL However wonderful how you captured them!!! A wonderful shot!!!! Thanks for sharing!!! Hugs Ute
No need to tell you what they are, so I will tell you this a BRILL nature capture Richard ! Cheers
I think these are leafhoppers, related to that blue and orange "sharpshooter" in my gallery. I know exactly what you mean about them zipping to the opposite side of the branch, it makes it very difficult to capture them. Beautiful shot with excellent DOF.
Great macro and excellent photo Richard....!!!!! Have a great detail....!!!
It must be an insect which is familiar to the grasshoppers! Fascinating macro shot! Have a look at night time whether they are able to glow or not! Excellent posting! Thanks for it!!!
excellent shot of these scatter bugs Richard :)*****
Great bugs, Richard! I admire your patience to take such a detailed shot! Beautiful! And thanks again for your tip to try the jf version of Apo ... you were right it's quite easy to get those shiny smooth flames :)
Excellent shot...well done.

Excellent shot!
Great capture. Yes, they sure look like Cicadas to me.
Very inteesting photo...excellent shot!!!
They are a creepy lil critter..............lmao I love the closeup and your right they do move to the other side.Upclose they have the characteristics of a locust somewhat. I have no clue what they are. Thank you for the peek I have never seen them upclose but have wanted to just because they are so elusive! EXCELLENT!!!
ood shot of these bugs. I most likeing saw them but never pay them anymind. Guess I will start looking more closely
Nice shot richard! :)
Those are crazy little critters--it looks like nature painted a false "EYE" on their 'ass wings'so that other bugs would think they were scary monsters..or maybe it's just me connecting the dots..great photo !
Excellent shot!!!! We have those bugs and they can really make a lot of noise at night!
GREAT CAPTURE!!
To find such colors in a nasty little bug is precious! I say nasty because if they landed on you their feel would be noticeable for something almost without mass. They would brush you with their wings.
What a great shot!! I do beleive that it is a Cicada too...they make a lot of noise and are sometimes mistaken for tree frogs (the noise they make). Great detail in this shot! I mean...check out that "butt" hole! :)
