Description
Nikon 7900 image.
Here is a photo that is probaly not for the squeamish, lol.
The Robber Flys swoop down on their prey from above and grab them . They then impale the prey with a sucking mouth part and extract the body juices.
The little fly had no chance and has become another meal. Some of the visual details of this are less than calming, lol.
Tomorrow I will post one more image of a Robber Fly but it will be a "Bearded Robber Fly" and not a "Giant Robber Fly".
I hope the pic was worth the click.

Very impressive image.
OH MY GOD!!!! This is just incredible!!! At first i thought it was just carrying around a baby, lol. Now i see that it has even pierced him....eeew!!! This shot is beyond incredible!!!! National Geographic-class! Im not that crazy about your frame though, find it to be somewhat distracting. Just my humble opinion of course. Have a great day. #:O)
Amazing shot!!!! Really stunning!!! Bravo!!!!
Great capture. We had some of these in the garden but did not know what they were.
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwww!!!
Excellent macro of the robber feeding, I have one too but this is just great!
superb Macro with full of Details and i think you have found the exact moment to shot. Only dont like the Frame, i thinks only a white or Black Framing would present it more valueable
What an amazing shot! The details, while a little icky, are incredible! Gives me the creeps, but it's an excellent shot. :)
