Description
Every hot summer I notice this little creature in my garden. It is very small, nothing more than 6 milimeters I think and it can fly. The colors are bright orange for the smallest part and different kinds of green for the biggest parts. I still cannot figuere out what I am dealing with... so............ HELP!!!!!!!

I have never before seen such a creature dont know what it is but i love your macro of it !!... well done !!...
I'd have to go with a leafhopper. Wikipedia has some info on these guys at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cicadellidae . There's also a very similar looking one at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Cicadellidae/ . Great capture, btw!
Thanks Ailarchendil.. I think you are right ! This is a leafhopper. Now I think the species is Graphocephala fennahi. Found exactly the same insect on a Dutch site..it seems there are more leaf hoppers than all the species of mammals, reptiles and birds together.. still I did not know anything about them. Maybe because they are so small.
it looks like an aphid also and they are very destructive.
Cool macro, nicely done:):):)
great find !
Yes it is a leafhopper.. It is in fact Graphocephala fennahi or Rhododendron leafhopper they can fly but only short distances but just jump normally.. Apart from man they are the only creatures to get any benefit from these plants we just admire the beauty of them in our gardens.. The stripes on the side can vary from this yellow orange to red..
I have been seeing a ton of these guys around here too! I even have one in my gallery; if u get a chance, check him out! I named it something like "Clown Bug" .. silly I know .. but I hadn't a clue what its real name is. Leafhopper it is then .. huh .. learn something every day. :)
