Description
I hope you'll pardon the head in the lower left; I didn't want to crop any more of the reflection away, and it seemed like too big an area to clone. On this vacation I shot photos from a moving car, a moving plane (bouncing around on a warm afternoon), and two moving boats.
This iceberg has just turned over. As with ice cubes in a glass, the part of the ice that's under water melts faster than the part in air, so eventually the berg becomes top-heavy and rolls over.
The part that is exposed to the air continuously absorbs oxygen, which makes it white, while the underwater part stays blue. So, you can see by the size of the white part just how much of an iceberg is above the surfact, and how much is below. I have some other good shots of this one; I may post one or two. I loved the color.
Thanks for looking any any comments.

Oh wow, Dennis, this is absolutely beautiful. You have showcased the color very well. Seeing the color of the icebergs was one of the highlights of our trip to Alaska and this really brings back those memories. I'll add this to Scenic Roadside as one of my two favorites of your pictures. I can't wait to see the other photos.
