i suppose that, a long time ago, this place was used as a kind of spaceport, by those called "Landers" by the Stalkers. There is no trace of any traffic, just a remaining slightly luminous grid half covered by a never moving light dust. And what such a grid could be used for, but as a beacon? I found this remote and silent place far beyond the edges of the plain where me109 discovered the "Listeners". Was there any connection between those two devices? Who knows...
