Description
This is for Ilona who just loves Snails!! She asked me to take a close up of this small snail from her garden about the size of a thumb nail taken with an MP-E 65mm Macro lens set to x3 life size magnification Tripod 1/5th sec @ f11 iso 800
Most Molluscs are sea creatures but Land snails have one adaptation enabling land snails and slugs to survive on land is their ability to produce plenty of slimy mucous. If you've watched a land snail or a slug moving across a dry surface, you may have noticed that it left a silvery trail. This trail is mucous the creature lays down beneath it as it travels Land snails and slugs move upon a layer of mucous.
This mucous in wonderful stuff. For one thing, it prevents moisture in the animals' bodies from being soaked up by the dry terrain being traveled across. Also, it protects the animal's fleshy underparts from sharp objects. Snails and slugs can actually glide across the sharpest razor blade without cutting themselves.
Thankyou Ilona for all the time you have spent on redoing my website and for those of you who care to look check out all the hard work she has done it does look fantastic thankyou so much XX

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! (PER ZACKO) One night we turned the car lights on and the tree in front of us looked as thought it ws made of crystal. The next four years I salted over 4,000 of the uckies, but not before that had killed several 100 yr old trees. Well, HUGS to you anyway!!!!!!
