Description
This old pier is located along the Roanoke River, as it runs through the rural town of Jamesville, in Martin County, North Carolina.
The pier was once used for catching smelt and other fish for the Cypress Grill restaurant (which is a fantastic place to eat), but it has not been used in decades for any purpose.
When the pier was originally built is unknown, but the restaurant had been operating for years before my Uncle Dan first ate there, and that was around 60 years ago. The pier stood there at that time.
The Cypress Grill is still one of the finest places to eat in Jamesville (imho).

Thanks for looking, have a most wonderful day!

Looks like you went for a more graphical approach here. Quite a big river! Excellent capture, I see the light conditions weren't easy to shoot this with the high contrasts.
I've always loved the Roanoke River! It's always seemed so mysterious to me whenever I've seen it while traveling. This capture is fantastic Troy!! I want to call in sick now and grab my poles to go fishing!lol. Wouldn't that be nice!!! Hope you have a great weekend my friend!!! HUGS!!!

So lovely and sad... where gone the fishermen now ? I'm touched by this shot, because I always go fishing with Giancarlo, in each region we gone, and it's tender and beautiful reminds for me... Thank you for this shot Troy ! Hugs. V
So are you saying that it isn't safe to eat fish from there? If that is the case, that's too bad 'cuz i love Smelt or Grunions as they call they call them in California.
Beautiful old pier which would hold a lot of memories!
