Description

Protea, South Africa's national flower. This pic is dedicated to Zeldie who encouraged me to publish my pics. I spotted it on a sidewalk in a town called Graskop (Grassy Hill) The home owner put up a notice board next to this lovely specimen, maybe she had been bothered by every passer by who had been struck by this awesome flower.

Amazing shot! I tried to get one of these from an indoor shot, but one really needs natural light. Lovely detail!

I've never seen anything like it before. It's an extraordinary looking flower! I don't think I'll ever make it to South Africa so it's so nice to see this beautiful flower through your amazing picture.
