Description
It took me 30 computer hours (2 machines, AMD 3500+ and a 2.2 Gig Pentium M, 15 hours each) to render this image. Full blown caustics, indirect light, and Raytraced depth of field.
Such an expensive render just had to be posted.

Cool !! :) And the subject made me feel nostalgic...
So thats what happend to all my lost marbles, excellent job.
It's an interesting issue: can we see the difference compared to a 15 minutes render? Probably we can, but I'm not sure that my wife could ... It brings up another question: does the Matrix spend more processor time for rendering reality to computer graphics guys like us? :)
You musta been playin' "keepsies"! The "cat's eyes" look great. Used to pull out all the stops to get those! Great job! DOF make em look like more. I'll bet the test renders were frustrating. Give your machines time to cool their jets for a while!
Excellently done. Love the DOF.
I'me a bit like Gwynhale. I think maybe, sometimes the search for technical excellence outways end results where better and different can become confused. I am one of those who would give 3d away if those times were needed.(Perhaps I am just jeolous of those who have such patience!)
Urgh, with this render times you can use Maxwellrender! Eheh, great image Kix!!
Its mind boggling at the effort that you put into this. Love it!
This is very good!
Very cool marbles...takes me back to third grade...they were like 100 dollar bills to us...this is very fun.
