Description
It's real and mighty impressive looking with a 3 inch main gun and a coaxial 37mm gun. Only 40 or so of the M6A2 Heavy Tank were built and tested, but their components lived on in other tanks. The 3 incher ended up on the M10 Tank Destroyer, the suspension helped out late model M4 Shermans, and the automatic transmission paved the way for the M26 - America's first real heavy tank that saw stellar service in Korea. These tanks are on display at the U.S. Army's Aberdeen Proving Ground about 35 miles north of Baltimore, Maryland.

Yup been there a few times. Glad they are planning to build a building to house the rusting tanks that have been in the open for decades.
@vkoontz: That's great news. I thought many of the outside tanks and guns were in shocking condition the last time I visited a few years back.

Just passed the british army on exercise this morning!!!! these tanks always scare me.. guess being brought up near military..and when my father in the R.A.F .. but excellent quality shot...:))))
Ironic is that this heavy tank was still years behind the Germans if you compare it to the King Tiger or Panther tanks. The US only had the advantage of numbers in battle as the German Heavy tanks were far superior. Great pics. Any more?
