Description
Did this about 1978. Took a photo of Union Station in Los Angeles, did a watercolor painting of the photo, then painted the fish on acetate, in the animation cel style. The acetate has shrunk about 3/8 of an inch over the years and doesn't smooth out very well, even under glass. Had to play a lot in Photoshop to get rid of the glare from the lights.

this is so wonderful! :) excellent idea, and the execution is excellent. i love how ytou combined the detailing in the background and the different style of the fish.
I know this station and you did a marvelous job using it to depict your scene. I'm glad you resurrected this image for all of us to see. I love your sense of whimsy dave.....I really do. ;)
Your images are always original and creative in any style. Fantastic.
Brilliant!
This could be straight from a kids' story book, a dreamlike fantasy scenery...you're one of the most original and interesting artists I know. Superb job!
Fabulous image, and thank god it's been digitaly preserved now. This would make an awsome mural for child's room. :)
I feel honored to view it.
Really great picture with a fun concept. I really need to know how to work with paint better.
you haven't changed at all. ;-) once a good eye, always a good eye! Someday I'll have to post what I was drawing in 1978, not as good as this...
